New Primary School For Bow: An Update

Friends of Bow Primary members  met with Mayor John Biggs and councilor Rachel Blake at the site of the new primary school planned for Bow, formerly Bow Boys School, on 17 August.

The group has asked for a site consultation meeting for all interested local people in September, for a timeline for the school’s development and when and how the community will be consulted along the way. The school was originally planned to open in 2018 but the council is now thinking of pushing this back to 2019. A date for the consultation meeting should be decided soon.

Friends of Bow Primary is a group of local people who want to support the development of the new primary school by drawing on the resources, ideas and skills of the local community. Once it’s open, they hope to enrich what the school can offer pupils and the wider community.

As a group they want to support the development of a non-denominational school that:

  • Is open to all
  • Is inclusive of all abilities
  • Is run by a non-profit provider
  • Celebrates the religious and cultural diversity of our area
  • Has a strong sense of community
  • Delivers academic excellence via a broad and balanced curriculum
  • Works in partnership with the wider community
