However, Hannan Mayan, one of the members of the community group which has been set up to fight the proposal, the Olympic Park Coalition for Responsible Development (OPCRD), said OPCRD has been now notified that the LLDC has recommended the applications be withdrawn, and that the applicants have been notified of this recommendation.
In a post on Change.org he added: “This is a DIRECT result of our campaign, and the pressure that we have all put in unison on our representatives and the media for the right to clean air and less noise in East London, and we are thrilled and proud of this achievement.
“However, the war is not won yet… While this represents an important benchmark and means that the applications in their current state will be probably dropped, the applicants may still re-apply with a different scope. We will keep our eyes and ears open, stay vigilant, and update you on any development that arises.”
