LLDC Says “No” To Cement Factory Plans

On 26 September 2017 the London Legacy Development Corporation’s (LLDC) planning committee voted unanimously to reject three applications to build concrete production and batching facilities at Bow East Goods Yard, right next to Queen Elizabeth Park.

Hanan Maayan, a member of the community group, the Olympic Park Coalition for Responsible Development (OPCRD), said the committee cited noise and design issues, but also said the plans didn’t fit with the changing nature of the area and its regeneration.

Hanan said this was a massive achievement which undoubtedly would have failed,  if not for strong community support. While the refusal was a victory, Hanan said the applicants would probably appeal the decision.

The OPCRD said it will keep its online petition going so the group can keep everyone informed if an appeal is made, and mobilise those interested if campaigning is needed. You can find the petition at this link
